What's New at Big Sky 2007 and late 2006
Dec 2007
Azure receives his third invitation to the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship show, as he was once again ranked among the top 25 Scottish Deerhounds in the nation.

Arikara goes to her very first show in the U.S., and comes home with two majors (one 3 and one 4) from the 6-9 month puppy class----congratulations Jeanne Frye!!!

Nov 2007
We say goodbye to Arikara (on the left), who is going to live at Thistleglen with Jeanne Frye. We wish her lots of luck. We also say goodbye to Aslyn (on the right), who has found her perfect home in Vancouver with the Pettit family (she even gets a summer cottage at the lake!). We will miss her.

Oct 2007
We attended the Denton Barktoberfest. Madolyn won Best in Show with Ziggy in the Children's Dog Show, and Ziggy also won Best Original Costume. He was dressed as a Moose!

Madolyn finishes Ziggy's championship by going Winners Dog for a 4pt major at the Austin show. This is Madolyn's first dog to show entirely by herself. She put every point on Ziggy, and we are very proud of her! They make a great team.

Sept 2007

The little Australian girls are doing well, and growing like weeds of course. They are enjoying their new surroundings, and even making new friends.....as you can see the neighbor's cat decided it was time to make a visit.

We welcome the arrival of Ardtalamcu Arikara and Ardtalamcu Nootka from Jocelyn Thompson in Australia. These lovely girls are out of Australian Ch. Ardtalamcu Embers and sired by Thistleglen Neville, who is a full brother to Ch. Thistleglen Margot. One of these girls will go to Jeanne Frye (Thistleglen), while the other girl will stay here with us and be co-owned with Barbara Heidenreich (Fern Hill) and Susan Trow (Caretta).

July 2007
Azure takes a Group 4 at the Denton UKC show, and Ziggy and Maddy take a Group 3.

June 2007
Ziggy and Maddy take Best of Winners two out of three days at the Oklahoma City dog show.

Audrey and Madolyn win the Non-Terrier Hound Group at the Texas Scottish Festival All Scottish Breeds dog show.

May 2007
Ziggy and Maddy take Winners Dog at Denton Kennel Club show.

April 2007
The 2007 SDCA National was held at Fontana Dam in North Carolina. We had a wonderful time seeing everyone and all their beautiful dogs. We had some nice wins, too, which made us proud of our crew. Zoe came for the Veteran's celebration, and at age 8, she and Madolyn took Best Junior handler.

Maddy and Zoe also won Musical Chairs at the
SDCA National :)
Our young male, Valor, won the 12-18 month dog class. He and his brother, Fernhill's Vanguard (who won the 15-18 month dog class in the Futurity and the Sweepstakes),  went back in the ring with their dam, Ch. Fernhill's Roslyn, and helped Roslyn place 4th in a huge Brood Bitch class. Valor's half brother, Lyric, who also has the same dam, but whose sire, Atticus, is a litterbrother to our male, Azure, came away with Winners Dog. We were thrilled!!

Our male, Azure, also placed third in the Field Trial Dog class and took second in Open in the AKC lure coursing event. We are so happy to see this special boy excel in both the conformation ring and the field.

Maddy and Azure getting ready for the Parade of Specials

The male puppy from our Azure/Zoe litter, who is now called Temujin's Easy Rider of Big Sky (Rider), won Winners Dog, Best of Winners, and Best Opposite over a special, for a 4 pt. major at the SDCA supported entry at Perry, GA. We are very proud of this boy who started his show career by winning Best of Breed over adult competition on the day he turned 6 months.

Ziggy and Maddy take Best of Winners at the Stephenville dog show.

We attended the 2007 IWCA National Specialty in South Fork, TX. There, we had a chance to visit with Karen Catov-Goodell, who had a beautiful crew of Wolfhounds (including the dog that went Winners Dog from the Bred-by class), as well as Verna, who is a litter sister to our Valor.

March 2007
Ziggy and Madolyn take Winners Dog at the Bluebonnet Pug Club Specialty in Ft. Worth

Feb. 2007

Our young girl, Audrey, made us proud by winning the Bred-by Exhibitor Hound Group at the Faith City Kennel Club show in Wichita Falls, TX.  Her sire, Azure, was also pulled in the regular group that same day. Both had very tough competition, so we were very excited with this outcome.  At the same show, Audrey took back to back majors, with Winners Bitch on both days and Best of Winners on Sunday. Valor took the crossover major on Saturday by going Best of Winners, and took the dog point on Sunday.

Jan. 2007
Audrey takes Best of Breed and a Group 2 at the Denton Kennel Club AKC match.

Valor takes Best of Breed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Dallas shows.

Nov. 2006
Audrey takes Best of Breed both days at the Waco show

Oct. 2006
Valor takes Best of Breed both days at the Duncan, OK show.  He then goes on to get a Group 3 under judge, Constance Barton on Saturday, and gets pulled in the group on Sunday. This is particularly exciting, as it was only the second all breed show he had been to, and he won it from the 9-12 month puppy class.
